Fancy hat or not, the real party at the Saratoga Race Course is in the picnic area with the blue collar folks. A word to the wise though, most of these guys know how to bet on the ponies, so you might want to figure things out before heading to the polls before each race. People will get nasty if they don’t get to place because you’re fumbling with the machine. I suggest asking people in line how to speed things up, or maybe this lady above can help out.
Remember, gambling is only fun if you win. Or, if you are sitting around drinking a bunch of beers with your pals, which is what we were doing. The money you save by bringing your own food and drink can be wasted on the jockeys. It’s a win-win.
I suppose it seams silly to head to the track only to watch the races on the big screen. Just remind yourself that, hey, you ain’t the only one. There are plenty of others just like you, and they don’t seam to mind. Bring your chair, a cooler full of ice cold beer, and your friends. I bet you’ll have a good time.
