Used to fill the entire canvas or as an element in his performance art pieces, the color became synonymous with the artist as well as his art. In essence, the color was the art. I’m not one to make obscure connections, but I find it interesting that Ikea uses an almost identical hue for their logo and branding, most notably as the primary color for their gigantic warehouse stores. International Klein Blue is often referred to as “IKB,” which is intriguing because, if you didn’t notice, the first two letters of Ikea are “I” and “K.” I wonder what Yves would think.

But you know our friends over at Stamford Notes had it all covered.

On the other hand, there is another show coming up that we’re damn excited about at the Samuel Owen gallery in Greenwich. (By the way, they recently moved from the South Side of Stamford. Are we sad they left? Of course, but we still support them.) The “On Every Street” show, Curated by Michael De Feo, is going to present works from over 30 street artists. Opening reception will be Thursday, October 6th from 6-9pm. Do it.
